The March edition of the Amplified Impact Newsletter celebrates Women’s History Month, highlighting how investment in women generates lasting impact.

Celebrating WHM: Investing in Women & Strengthening Communities

The month of March offers an opportunity to celebrate the achievements, leadership, and lasting contributions of women throughout history and across sectors. Women’s History Month serves as a reminder of the importance of investing in initiatives that empower women and girls to thrive through education, health, sports, leadership, and more.

At Amplified Consulting Services, we know investing in women is not only the right thing to do, it is also one of the most impactful and sustainable investments one can make. Supporting women leaders and advocates creates ripple effects that strengthen families, organizations, and communities for generations to come.

This edition of the ACS newsletter focuses on the importance of intentional investment in women and girls, the measurable impact of equity-focused philanthropy, and strategies for mission-driven nonprofits and philanthropists to support meaningful opportunities.

Return on Investment: Women & Girls

Data consistently demonstrates that investing in women and girls creates substantial social and economic returns. With equitable access to essentials like education, healthcare, and financial opportunity, whole communities tend to experience stronger economic growth, improved public health outcomes, increased educational attainment, and more resilient systems.

Women serve as invaluable leaders, caregivers, educators, advocates, innovators, and decision makers across the myriad areas in which they dedicate themselves. Despite these crucial roles and evidence of positive impact, organizations and initiatives supporting women and girls often face funding disparities. Unreliable funding can cause barriers to long-term sustainability and impede effectiveness. But intentional philanthropy can help support consistent funding and opportunities.

Strategic investment in women-focused initiatives could take many forms, such as:

  • Educational scholarships

  • Leadership development programs

  • Maternal and reproductive health initiatives

  • Career readiness and mentorship programs

  • Women-owned business and entrepreneurship support

  • STEM programs

  • Advancing opportunities for girls’ and women’s sports

Importantly, investing in and celebrating women is not solely about addressing barriers—it is also about recognizing talent, leadership, innovation, potential, and so much more!

WHM offers an opportunity to reflect on the endless opportunities to create environments in which women and girls are empowered to lead and achieve.

How Nonprofits Can Engage Supporters During Women’s History Month

WHM presents a valuable opportunity for nonprofit organizations to strengthen meaningful donor engagement while authentically highlighting the impact of women within their organization and mission. Rather than treating the month as a one-time campaign, nonprofits can approach the moment by:

  • Uplifting and celebrating stories of women leaders, staff, and volunteers;

  • Highlighting measurable outcomes from programs supporting women and girls;

  • Educating donors about systemic barriers and opportunities for greater impact;

  • Building authentic partnerships grounded in equity and opportunity; and

  • Showcasing how investing in women benefits entire communities.

Supporters increasingly want to understand both the measurable outcomes and the human impact of the organizations and initiatives they support. Nonprofits that can effectively combine evidence-based impact with compelling storytelling are better equipped to engage a sustainable donor base that truly cares about supporting women and girls. Strategies in support of these goals may include ideas like:

  • Sharing program success stories — including measurable outcomes, not just activities!

  • Creating timely, reliable datasets that demonstrate impact

  • Maintaining an environment and culture that embraces women leaders

  • Offering volunteer and mentorship opportunities

  • Aligning long-term organization goals to ensure equity, access, and empowerment

WHM can also be an opportunity to strengthen strategic communications and cultivate supporters who are passionate about investing in women and girls.

Building an Intentional Giving Strategy that Supports Women

Philanthropists and family foundations may find WHM to be a meaningful opportunity to evaluate how their current giving strategies support women’s leadership, wellbeing, access, and opportunities. Intentional giving in this space does not require supporting only women-focused organizations, though that may be an approach that aligns well for some. Donors may also consider asking broader questions, such as:

  • How does this organization contribute to equitable access and opportunity?

  • Are women represented in leadership and decision-making roles?

  • How are programs impacting the girls and women in this community?

  • Does the organization measure and publicly report outcomes effectively?

  • What longterm community impact could this investment support or create?

Many philanthropists are interested in “upstream” investments that support programs and create sustainable change before a crisis emerges. Investments in areas such as education, leadership development, healthcare access, economic mobility, and entrepreneurship for women and girls can create long-term benefits across communities. These types of investments can also serve as meaningful opportunities for philanthropists and foundations to commit to an important cause and monitor progress across generations.

WHM is an excellent time to discuss philanthropic values, identify goals, and select causes that align with an individual or family mission.
